Shifting Perspective to “Other-Focused”
Management, especially for entry-
and middle-levels, is about serving others: subordinates, peers, and
superiors. It requires the combined abilities to focus on tasks and details,
orientation to the “big picture,” and a strong human focus on one’s teammates.
Management requires of one the ability to deal with both tasks and people, and
the acquisition of skills in both areas. This workshop provides new and
aspiring managers with the essential skills necessary to succeed and move up.
Objectives

Identify key communication skills and techniques.

Learn to identify conflict situations and learn techniques for
resolution.
·
Identify task and project management skills.
·
Define “delegation” and its effective use.
·
Recognize “me-focused” behavior and learn to refocus.
Format
This workshop is presented with
short lectures followed by discussion and group exercises. Participants will
complete workbook exercises during the workshop.

Project Management Essentials Workshop or equivalent.

Minimum of 6 participants, maximum of 20 participants.

Pre-program Preparation:
|
Bring written descriptions of one each: best manager
ever experienced and worst manager ever experienced. The information will
remain anonymous and confidential.

Post-program Follow-up:
|
Instructor will be available for up to 30 minutes of
telephone or email consultation with each attendee for a period of two weeks
after completion of the workshop.
